Sets up and operates variety of machine tools and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines.
Requirements
- Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications to determine type and dimensions of parts required.
- Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part.
- Replaces defective part with new part or repairs defective part.
- Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
- Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
- Sets up and operates the lathes for the manufacture of rolls, shafts, id rolls and miscellaneous parts.
- Sets up and operates OD grinder used to grind shafts, rolls and miscellaneous parts.
- Sets up and operates mill machines for the manufacture of turk heads, and miscellaneous parts and equipment.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and material on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders and shapers.
- Grinds turk heads and weld rolls to specifications, sends out for heat treatment, documents new tooling process.
