The Terminal Operator/Cover Handler is responsible for operating the facility's SHE programs, rigging and lifting barge covers, and ensuring safe operational capabilities. They must possess the ability to work in various conditions, including high/low river conditions and inclement weather.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain TWIC card
- Entry-level labor experience
- Ability to recognize various types of barge covers and methods used to rig each one
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders and walk extended distances up inclines
- Must have ability to work from ladders and platforms at heights above 6’
- Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in dusty conditions
- Must be able to work frequently in inclement weather
- Must be aware and attentive to surroundings
- Must ensure environmental equipment for the unloading operation is functioning properly at all times
