Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services (MNCHS) is a community‑driven health board that manages the N’Mninoeyaa Aboriginal Health Access Centre and the Baawaating Family Health Team, delivering comprehensive primary and therapeutic care to First Nations communities across the North Shore and the urban Aboriginal population of Sault Ste. Marie. The organization offers a full spectrum of services—including mental health and addictions, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, palliative care, primary health care, smoking cessation, nutrition, active living, traditional medicine, and counseling—tailored to both reserve and off‑reserve residents. MNCHS distinguishes itself through its outreach model, serving eleven First Nations and an Indian Friendship Centre, and by operating under a leadership structure that includes First Nations chiefs and council members who also serve as the executive committee for the North Shore Tribal Council. This community‑centric governance and integrated care approach enable MNCHS to address cultural, geographical, and health disparities unique to Indigenous populations while fostering collaboration with local partners.
The Mental Wellness Counsellor – Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Specific is responsible for providing culturally appropriate in-person and virtual counselling services in alignment with the Ontario Structure Psychotherapy Program.
