After School Program Aide - Part Time

The After School Program Aide is responsible for providing safe and developmentally appropriate before and after school programs for youth, including morning latch key program and after school homework assistance, tutoring, creative arts and recreational activities.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• Two years of experience working with youth in a related environment or field preferred
• Must possess an enthusiasm for children and youth, and a zeal and vision for youth ministry which is in agreement with the overall philosophy and goals of The Salvation Army
• General office skills required (computer skills, reading, proof-reading, typing, filing, correct spelling and grammar usage, use of telephone)
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must have ability to work with supervisors such as Office Coordinator, Corps Officers, and work well as a team alongside co-workers, community members, and guests/clients
• Able to function in fast-paced, frequently changing environment
• Must have the ability to work with people of diversity
• Competent in Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel
• Must pass a criminal background check and required certification for The Salvation Army’s “Protecting The Mission” child safety program
• Must have or get current pediatric CPR and First Aid Cards
• Have or willingness to get Class C license for transportation of children is preferred
