Assistant to the District Permits Engineer (Civil Engineer I)

The Assistant to the District Permits Engineer (Civil Engineer I) position is responsible for performing engineering reviews, preparing and reviewing reports, and performing related work in areas such as highways, bridges, and buildings. The incumbent will assist the District Permit Engineer and coordinate with various units and sections to ensure permits are reviewed and prepared in a timely manner. The position also involves customer service work, supervising and inspecting permit projects, and maintaining documents and standardized forms.

Requirements

• Two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical or professional experience in civil engineering work
• Associate's degree with a major in civil engineering or civil engineering technology (may be substituted for a maximum of one year of experience)
• Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in civil engineering or civil engineering technology (may be substituted for experience)
• Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License (may be required based on assignment)
