Senior Staff Software Engineer

Matillion is hiring a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead architectural and engineering excellence across their Hub and Billing ecosystem. The role involves driving technical decisions, leading cross-team efforts, and influencing organizational decisions to achieve alignment on major technical goals.

Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in Java frameworks like springboot
• Deep understanding of component architecture, state management concepts, event-driven architectures, test strategies and performance optimisation at scale
• Deep knowledge developing and ensuring frontend security
• Proficient with agile methodologies, driving efficient and rapid delivery to production
• Proven ability to lead the design and delivery of significant frontend projects within a SaaS product environment
• Strong experience designing frontend systems that are modular, testable, and capable of supporting complex, AI-driven user workflows
• Deep proficiency in agentic development — an established workflow where AI agents are integrated into daily engineering practice to multiply output and quality
• Experience leading cross-team strategic efforts and influencing organisational decisions to achieve alignment on major technical goals
• Proficiency in diagnosing issues across related domains and fostering a culture where teams use monitoring data as a basis for stability improvements
• Proven track record of managing complex Java codebases at scale
• Experience with observability tooling and cross-domain debugging
• Solid understanding of the cloud data landscape (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.) and how users interact with data automation platforms
