A Medical Dosimetrist must be able to understand the technical aspects of radiation therapy treatments and communicate these aspects to the Radiation Oncologist and Radiation Therapists, requiring a working knowledge of radiation safety and mathematical skills.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of radiation safety
- Above average aptitude in mathematical skills
- Ability to interpret treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols
- Visualization of objects in three-dimensional concepts to facilitate the planning process
- Knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span
- Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs
- Ability to provide teaching instruction to Fellows, Residents, and students
