McCarthy Tétrault is a Canadian law firm seeking a Business Insights Manager to provide strategic financial insights and lead firm-wide reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of experience in financial analysis and management reporting, and will be responsible for supervising and developing a team of analysts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (eg. Accounting, Finance or Business Administration).
- Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or Master's Degree (MBA).
- A minimum of 6 years of work experience displaying a strong knowledge of financial/management reporting concepts and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; adept at synthesizing data into meaningful insights in order to guide internal decision making.
- Demonstrated leadership skills: 3+ years experience in coaching/developing direct reports; ability to establish strong working relationships with others within and outside the Finance department in order to influence/obtain buy-in on common goals.
- Very strong written and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to summarize and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Very strong time management skills; ability to juggle multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Works well with ambiguity; shows initiative in problem solving.
- Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables and macros (VBA).
- Very strong proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Solid working knowledge using Outlook, Microsoft Word.
- Experience with Microsoft OneNote and Teams an asset.
- Knowledge of SQL with some experience writing complex queries required.
- Experience with Business Intelligence applications (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, etc.) strongly desired.
- Proven proficiency with manipulating financial systems to retrieve required data; familiarity/experience with practice management applications (e.g. Aderant Expert) or legal industry tools (Iridium, Peer Monitor) an asset but not required.
- Familiarity/experience with SharePoint or other self-serve reporting platforms (e.g. Cognos, SSRS) desired but not required.
- Proven aptitude towards learning new applications.
