The purpose of the Certified Anesthesiology Assistant is to provide perioperative management of patients where anesthesia services are indicated. Duties involved in providing this care include pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative evaluation of patients requiring anesthetized surgical and non-surgical procedures.
Requirements
- Pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative evaluation of patients requiring anesthetized surgical and non-surgical procedures
- Administration of anesthetics in the framework of a written practice protocol developed for the anesthesiologist’s assistant
- Maintenance of adequate patient records
- Participation in teaching activities of the department
- Participation in continuing education programs
- Demonstration of a high level of professionalism in the performance of the duties of an AA Practitioner
- Provision of resuscitative care as indicated
