Coder II-3

The coder/abstracter is responsible for accurate code assignment of all inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service diagnoses, procedures and conditions as indicated in the patient medical record.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in health information technology or related field or 5 years coding experience
• coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS) required
• 2-3 years of experience in coding and familiarity with coding software
• strong analytical skills and ability to resolve coding issues
• effective communication and interpersonal skills
