Sonographers are primarily responsible for producing high-quality ultrasound diagnostic images and comprehensive reports on findings that aid in the diagnosis of patients, as well as interventional procedures within the scope of their practice.
Requirements
- Perform high-quality diagnostic and interventional ultrasound studies
- Assist the referring doctors and radiologists with procedures
- Write diagnostic reports according to practice standards
- Liaise with radiologists on the appropriate diagnoses and report content
- Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety
- Quality control tests as per SAHPRA Regulations
- Assist with modality stock control and ordering of consumables
- Assist with billing, procedural and ICD-10 codes
