Security Officer

Employees in this class perform investigations of crimes and accidents, protect property and citizens, and provide escort services.

Requirements

• Ability to attain an Armed Security License
• Ability to qualify with a Glock 40 cal handgun
• Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations
• Knowledge of campus policies, City, and State laws
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to ascertain facts by personal contact, observations
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, the public, and other employees
• Ability to enforce laws firmly, tactfully with respect for the rights of others
• Knowledge of effective methods of investigation
• Ability to learn to operate law enforcement equipment
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and written
