Job Description
SEASONAL GROUNDS LABORER (DA) performs grounds tasks necessary to meet Landscape contract specifications.
Requirements
- Cuts lawns using hand mower or power mower.
- Trims and edges around walks, flower beds and walls using clippers and edging tools.
- Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth using shears.
- Rakes leaves and cleans or sweeps up litter using spiked stick or broom.
- Shovels snow from walks and driveways.
- Spreads salt on public passage ways.
- Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs.
- Waters lawn and shrubs during dry periods using hose or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler system.
- Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts using shovel and rake.
- Operates walking type power mowers, snow blowers, roto tillers or riding mowers.
- Operates chain saws, hedge trimmers and other hand held power operated tools to prune, cultivate, shovel, trim, cut and dig.
- Uses tractor equipped with attachments, such as mowers, lime or fertilizer spreaders and lawn roller.
- Performs a variety of laboring duties when yard work is completed.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
