The Special Care Transport RN is responsible for the safe and effective transport of patients requiring advanced clinical support. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking, independent judgment, and evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients experiencing actual or potential health problems.
Requirements
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, EMS personnel, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe patient transport
- Assessing patient condition prior to and during transport, initiating appropriate interventions as needed
- Ensuring accurate and timely communication of patient status, treatment plans, and clinical updates between sending and receiving teams
- Maintaining clinical competency in emergency and transport nursing practices
- Participating in continuing education and professional development in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agency standards
- Delegating and supervising care as appropriate, supporting team members in the delivery and evaluation of patient care
- Reporting any breaches in clinical, safety, or ethical standards to leadership promptly
