Mews is looking for a Risk Manager to build and own their enterprise risk framework from the ground up, as part of their scaling FinTech offering. The role requires 7+ years of risk management experience in financial services, fintech or payments, ideally in the Dutch or broader European market. Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and hands-on experience designing and operating ERM and internal control frameworks are required. The role is based in the Netherlands and reports directly to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer (CRCO).
Requirements
- 7+ years of risk management experience in financial services, fintech or payments, ideally in the Dutch or broader European market
- Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape
- Hands-on experience designing and operating ERM and internal control frameworks, ideally in a tech-driven or high-growth environment
- Background from fintech, payments or regulated FS is strongly preferred
- Exceptional communication skills – you can translate complex risk/reg requirements into simple, actionable guidance for non-experts
- People-focused: you’re comfortable spending a lot of time with stakeholders, asking questions, and constructively challenging how things are done
- Pragmatic and calm under pressure: you don’t escalate every issue; you can distinguish noise from real risk and propose balanced, creative solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently, structure ambiguity and make sound judgment calls
