Minnesota Wire and Cable is seeking a Mold and Product Design Engineer to join their Engineering department in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and manufacturing integration of molded components for high-reliability wire and cable assemblies, and will interface with customers to understand their challenges and provide solutions.
Requirements
- Manages engineering design, development, analysis, test and/or product assurance projects to meet customer requirements, cost, quality, performance, innovation and schedule requirements.
- Defines requirements; and conceptualizes, creates, and analyzes designs to ensure technical effort meets customer contract requirements, systems requirements, government/industry specifications, Company standards and good engineering practices.
- Develop 2D and 3D CAD models for plastic injection molds, overmolds, and connector components.
- Conduct DFM/DFA reviews to optimize wire harness layouts, connector interfaces, and molded strain reliefs for cost-effective production.
- Perform Moldflow analysis to predict material behavior, cooling times, and potential defects before tool fabrication.
- Provide technical guidance to sales teams during the RFQ phase and interface directly with customers to resolve complex design challenges.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization to reduce cycle times and scrap in high-volume production
- Maintains up-to date knowledge of industry practices, trends, and applications. Advises senior management on potential new developments and programs.
