Primetals Technologies USA is a leading partner for engineering, plant construction and lifecycle services in the metal industry. We are currently searching for a Project Logistics Manager for our Canonsburg, PA or Alpharetta, GA location.
Requirements
- Lead and manage a team of Logistics Specialists
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members
- Conduct regular team meetings to align priorities, share updates, and resolve operational challenges
- Develop and implement logistics strategies aligned with project timelines and business objectives
- Monitor and optimize end-to-end logistics processes for multiple projects simultaneously
- Ensure compliance with company policies, international trade regulations, and project-specific requirements
- Collaborate with procurement, project management, and finance teams to ensure seamless execution
- Identify potential risks in supply chain and logistics operations; develop mitigation plans
- Resolve escalated issues promptly to minimize impact on project delivery
- Track KPIs for logistics operations and team performance; prepare regular reports for senior management
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
- Estimate shipping costs during the bid phase, including identifying the most optimal and cost-effective shipping routes and opportunities for goods consolidation
- Create and maintain project shipping plans during execution, including coordination of Free-Issued Parts (FIP)
- Control and track shipping costs, comparing actual costs against planned and budgeted figures on a per-project basis
- Coordinate with vendor logistics representatives regarding pickup schedules, packing lists, weights, dimensions, and other shipment details
- Manage freight procurement, including sending RFQs, negotiating with freight forwarders, and selecting the most competitive offers
- Issue shipping orders to selected freight forwarders and maintaining accurate shipment logs
- Review and approve (or reject) freight forwarder invoices, as well as U.S. customs invoices, including those with new tariffs
- Communicate with customer logistics representatives to confirm delivery schedules, packing lists, and other shipping-related information
- Coordinate import and export customs clearances with customs brokers
- Work with vendors to resolve material discrepancies related to quantity ordered vs quantity shipped
- Handle and support all shipping related claims
