Job Description
Utilization management involves evaluating the medical necessity, appropriateness, and efficiency of healthcare services. The role requires collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other stakeholders to improve clinical documentation and reduce payment denials. The employee insurance liaison supports HR, Highmark Liaison, and Medical Director in processing medical procedures and requests for waivers.
Requirements
- Proof of successful completion of education requirements for board certified registered nurse
- 5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse is preferred
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, reports, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and correspondence
- BLS required
- Certification for UM nurse and CDI specialists is encouraged
