Montgomery College is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert for electrical design across 3 multi-building campuses. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and constructing mechanical systems for commercial or higher education buildings.
Requirements
- Designing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems for new construction and renovation.
- Managing the permit process with governmental agencies.
- Collaborating with the Procurement Department to prepare bids for contracted construction work.
- Inspecting construction while in process to ensure it is completed in accordance with design plans.
- Project managing and overseeing outside contractors during construction.
- Reviewing and approving contractor pay applications.
- Providing technical subject matter expertise on design and construction needs to other college units.
- Reviewing consultant-prepared mechanical drawings, plans, details, and specifications for technical accuracy, coordination, and code compliance.
- Inspecting and evaluating existing mechanical systems and developing capital replacement planning in collaboration with the College Architect and Director of Planning, Engineering and Capital Budgets.
- Investigating, identifying, and resolving engineering problems associated with Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Building Automation System (BAS) controls, plumbing, and fire protection.
