Job Description
Responsible for providing comprehensive, high quality, safe nutrition care to patients in a variety of settings. Promotes healthy eating habits, assesses nutrition needs, and implements interventions and/or dietary plans according to age and disease specific needs of patient. Mentors and teaches nutrition and diet therapy principles to dietetic interns, medical students, and Healthcare providers.
Requirements
- Assesses and systematically implements individualized appropriate nutrition education for patients/families
- Conducts comprehensive patient/family teaching
- Provides educational resources for patient and family
- Updates and develops new teaching materials as needed
- Adjusts diet according to patient’s needs taking into consideration allergies, intolerances, lifestyle, psychosocial, and educational factors
- Evaluates clinical data as to normal vs. abnormal parameters
- Completes documentation of Medical Nutrition Therapy
- Conducts group nutrition classes
- Documents medical nutrition therapy and nutritional care for clients
- Assists patient in establishing and monitoring goals
- Works collaboratively and communicates with staff to improve patient outcomes
