A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a RN with advanced clinical nursing education in a distinct specialty area of practice. The NP will assess patients' health status, initiate and order treatments, prescribe medication regimens, and educate and counsel patients.

Requirements

• Assesses patients' health status through comprehensive health history and physical examination.
• Initiates and orders therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations.
• Prescribes medication regimens and interprets findings to alter the plan of care.
• Educates and counsels patients in health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses.
