The Electrical Specialist is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of motors, generators, and high voltage equipment, ensuring the plant's reliability and safety.
Requirements
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal, and communication systems.
- Perform journey-level electrician tasks, including the installation and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and controls.
- Maintain and test DC emergency battery backup systems.
- Conduct maintenance of 480V–13.8KV electrical systems, including high-voltage switchyards, ensuring compliance with electrical safety practices.
- Perform electrical system isolations per industry standards, ensuring safety and training others in electrical safety programs.
- Work in compliance with all safety procedures and environmental permits to avoid accidents.
- Conduct routine inspections to proactively identify and address potential electrical issues, minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Provide training for assigned employees on equipment operations, maintenance practices, and safety protocols.
- Work on an individual level to identify the root causes of equipment failures and forced outages. Recommend and implement corrective actions based on standard practices and procedures.
- Collaborate with technicians, operators, and maintenance teams to integrate electrical systems with plant operations.
- Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Complete and submit shift and job reports as required.
- Participate in planned outages by providing technical support for electrical system maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Respond to emergencies promptly, regardless of the time.
- Provide occasional support to the Niles Peaker CT facility in Niles, OH, as needed.
- Perform work of other classifications as needed, including training for and assisting with the following: Learn the responsibilities of the Pump Room Operator and provide occasional support to the Pump Room as needed. Set up rigging, tackle, blocking, and scaffolding for equipment handling and maintenance tasks. Install and adjust bearings, shafting, gears, and similar equipment requiring close tolerances. Perform equipment alignments. Conduct intermediate-level mechanical work within required tolerances, including operating, adjusting, and maintaining machine shop equipment. Use oxyacetylene cutting, brazing, soldering, and gas or electrical welding, excluding welds that require approval or certification.
