Pharmacist - Poison Center Specialist

Pharmacist - Poison Center Specialist role is responsible for managing complex poison exposure cases, providing advanced toxicology assessment, and making treatment recommendations to the public and healthcare professionals. The Specialist serves as a clinical expert and resource within the poison center, supports and mentors staff and trainees, and contributes to education, outreach, and research initiatives.

Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant degree
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) with 25 years of nursing experience
• Pharmacy degree with national certification as a specialist in poison information (CSPI) and a minimum of five years of recent poison center specialist experience
• Six months experience with previous poison center clinical call for CSPI Registered Nurses
• Thorough knowledge of clinical toxicology
• Ability to perform prolonged mental concentration to read and gather information
• Skill in typing and use of computer
• Ability to perform complex math calculations
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Skill in organizing multiple tasks
• Ability to work a flexible schedule
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse, Pharmacist, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant in the state of Nebraska
• Certification as a Specialist in Poison Information (CSPI) by the American Association of Poison Control Centers or American Board of Applied Toxicology
