Role Overview

The Specimen Shipping Specialist I ensures proper handling of all specimens received and prepares specimens for laboratory testing. This entry-level position involves matching patient information, data entry, and scanning documents.

What You Will Do

Receives specimens for testing, performs quality assurance checks, returns slides and blocks to clients, and utilizes chain of custody logs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of experience equivalent to an Accessioning Technician
• Proficient with MS Office programs
• Ability to sit during shift, excluding meal and rest period
• Ability to move and lift 50 pounds and maneuver packages of any weight above 50 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person
• Ability to bend/twist at the waist and knees
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime
