Performs routine and complex procedures to obtain data for use in the clinical diagnosis of disorders of the nervous system. Prepares patients for tests, documents medical history, and operates computer equipment to record nervous system responses.
Requirements
- Schedule patients for neurodiagnostic procedures and obtain required medical information
- Prepare patients for tests and fasten electrodes to specified positions on scalp and body
- Document pertinent medical history from the patient or family members
- Operate computer equipment to record nervous system responses
- Perform procedures with appropriate documentation
- Identify EEG waveforms/patterns during testing and communicate to medical personnel
- Recognize changes in the clinical condition of the patient and correlate those changes with the EEG
- Collaborate with supervisor and medical personnel to resolve problems and to advise concerning laboratory procedures, techniques and equipment
