Job Description
IONM technologist provides intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) care for patients during surgical procedures where there is risk of neurologic injury. The technologist explains test procedures, applies stimulation and recording electrodes, and reviews patient medical records to determine appropriateness of the monitoring.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) or can be CNIM eligible, Diplomate of the American Board of Neurophysiologic Monitoring (DABNM), or Board Certified Specialist Intraoperative Monitoring (BCS-IOM)
- One (1) year of experience in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring
- Completion of at least one hundred fifty (150) cases
- Equivalent combination of education and experience, acceptable
