Backend Engineer- DevEx Team

ERGO NEXT is a technology-led provider of small business insurance, and they are looking for a Backend Engineer to lead their Platform Engineering presence in the US. The successful candidate will shape the future of the Software Development Life Cycle by building an Agentic (AI-based) SDLC, bridge coding and infrastructure, and treat the platform as a product.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience as a Software Developer in a fast-paced cloud-oriented organization
• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent
• Proven record of initiating, designing, implementing and leading meaningful projects
• A solid experience with at least one of the following languages: Java / Kotlin / JS / TS / bash / Python
• Experience with improving development processes and developer experience in general
• A people person, accessible, proficient problem solver, which quickly adapts to new technologies
• Self-driven engineer with a deep curiosity to research and master AI technologies
• Understanding in CI/CD methodologies with a hands-on development experience of Jenkins pipelines
• Solid orientation to Cloud/Infrastructure-As-Code concepts
• Understanding in Kubernetes & Containers
• Knowledge in build tools, e.g. Maven/Gradle/npm/nx
• Familiarity with software test methodologies and tools
• Familiarity with observability tools - monitoring, logging, tracing
• Experience with Internal Developer Portal/Platform and self-serve tools (e.g. Backstage)
