The Intellectual Property Counsel Internship 2026 provides an opportunity for a first or second year law student to work as a legal intern in a fast-paced Legal Department for Nexteer Automotive, a publicly traded company with its corporate headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI.
Requirements
- Candidate must be patent bar eligible – engineering or software background preferred
- Candidate must be a 1L or 2L enrolled in law school in Michigan
- Candidate must be able to work onsite 2-3 days per week (some remote possible) and on a multiple, consecutive semester basis
- Candidate must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
- Preferred: 3.0 GPA or higher
- Candidate must be a full-time student
- Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, good judgment and professional
- Demonstrate logic, reasoning, good judgment and have the ability to work independently and with a group/team; proven problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical and time management skills; able to meet deadlines
- Superior English communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Impeccable ethics and integrity
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to work on-site
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Candidate must have the ability to work 20-32 hours per week
- Candidate must have the right to work in the US and not require sponsorship
