The School Counselor will coordinate the comprehensive counselling program within a school, focusing on preventative and responsive programs and services for students' personal, social, educational, and career needs.

Requirements

• Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification
• Master’s degree in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or equivalent
• Training in Restorative Approaches
• Training in Trauma Informed Practises
• Group Counselling Theory and Practice
• School Counselling Programs
• Professional Ethics
• Counselling Skills
• Career and Transition Counselling
• Experience teaching at an elementary / secondary level
• Experience as an elementary / secondary school counsellor
• Cultural responsivity in Equity and Inclusion within a counselling context
• Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism
• Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire
