Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Clinical Therapist (Masters) to provide mental health services to children and adolescents in schools. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative model with a multidisciplinary team to identify and intervene early on mental health disorders. The position requires a Master's degree in a clinical health-related discipline and two years of related clinical experience.
Requirements
- Master's degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, Masters in Occupational Therapy)
- Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body
- Two years' related clinical experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM V) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing individual and group evidence informed therapies based on care plan to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information, and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living mental illness and addiction.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide and violence risk assessment/ intervention
- Demonstrated awareness of community resources and programs.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- High level of written/ oral/ interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolution
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
