Computational Nuclear Engineer

Computational Nuclear Engineers within the Radiation Transport and HPC Methods (RTHPCM) Group will work on developing and implementing methods and numerical algorithms for modeling and simulation of nuclear systems, and collaborating with team members to engineer solutions for developers and users of nuclear energy modeling and simulation software.

Requirements

• Develop and implement numerical algorithms in advanced modeling and simulation software related to radiation transport and computational fluid dynamics for multithreaded CPU and GPU computing platforms.
• Conduct performance profiling of existing scientific software, identify bottlenecks, and develop strategies for improving computational efficiency.
• Work effectively individually and within a team to engineer large multi-component scientific and data-intensive software to meet the requirements of projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Communicate effectively the work performed through journal articles, presentations, reports, and code documentation.
• Develop and submit funding proposals to DOE and other government agencies for new research efforts.
