Nuclear Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a Nuclear Mechanical Engineer to join the Systems Engineering Group within the Research Reactors Division at Oak Ridge National Lab. The role involves design engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication of reactor core components, as well as providing technical support to operations and maintenance.

Requirements

• Support engineering design work for new and upgraded HFIR structures, systems, and components
• Implement modifications in accordance with RRD configuration control processes
• Perform calculations, apply relevant codes and standards, and help develop design and material specifications
• Maintain accurate drawings, system documentation, and as-built records
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and prepare clear work instructions for maintenance activities
• Provide field technical support and contribute to preventive and predictive maintenance planning
• Support operability assessments and review equipment performance data to identify trends or vulnerabilities
