Assist the Slitter Operator with set-up operations. Inspect, unload, and store raw and finished goods material within the Slitting area. Keep raw material storage area neat and organized.
Requirements
- Coordinate and communicate required materials with assistant operators, supervisors, inventory control personnel, and production coordinators
- Stage material at the appropriate work center and place finished material into proper inventory location
- Replenish stock materials used at the point of use
- Operate industrial lift truck or crane hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products
- Dispose of scrap material
- Assist with periodic cycle counts
- Load and unload coils on slitter with 50,000-pound tow motor and/or 30-ton crane
- Select, clean, and install spacers and knives on arbors
- Change slitter knives, spacers, and stripper rings as required
- Clean, inspect, and store knives, spacers, and stripper rings as needed
- Verify slitting accuracy and minimize wasted materials
- Review daily job travelers with Operator and supervisor
- Set up exit hold down roll
- Band/weld coils on the reel, coil car or turnstile as required
- Remove pup coils or unfinished coils as required
- Spot and determine visual defects
- Complete necessary paperwork and timesheets
- Examine completed workpieces for defects and sort defective pieces
- Keep personal and common work areas clean and organized
- Recognize and report quality issues
- Perform all other duties as assigned
