The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) will ensure welding operations comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
Requirements
- Perform visual and dimensional inspection of welds before, during, and after welding
- Verify compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API, ISO)
- Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records
- Identify, document, and report welding defects and non-conformances
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Monitor welding processes, materials, and consumables for compliance
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records
- Coordinate with welders, supervisors, and engineers to resolve quality issues
- Support audits, client inspections, and regulatory requirements
- Promote safety and quality assurance best practices on-site
