Job Description
This Scrap Yard Operator position involves operating locomotives, railcars, material handling equipment and overhead cranes. Responsibilities include scrap delivery and consumption, quality inspection, data entry, inventory management, initial inspection, and managing equipment for safe rail movement. The position operates 24/7 in all weather conditions.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED
- 2+ years working in an industrial environment
- Experienced in working in extreme weather conditions
- Able to climb, bend, stand or lift items
- Strong Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to pass written test, face to face interview and hands-on assessment
- Proficiency with overhead crane, hydraulic material handler, locomotive, rail cars, computer, handheld radio rail scales
- Willingness to lift heavy objects.
