Job Description
Orb is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their AMMO team, focusing on large-format additive manufacturing of aircraft parts and assemblies. This role involves designing, simulating, and optimizing aircraft structural assemblies, characterizing materials, operating an additive cell, and developing new manufacturing processes. The company aims to revolutionize aircraft production and connect remote areas with essential services.
Requirements
- Experience in operations, manufacturing, technology, aerospace, or defense
- Willingness to learn new skills in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong Understanding of Materials Science, Including Polymers, Composites, and Metal Alloys
- Depth + Breadth of Understanding in Material Properties, Mechanical Behavior, Additive Manufacturing Processes and Fabrication.
- Familiarity with using CAD software (such as Siemens NX, Solidworks, Fusion360)
- Competent or experienced in FEA software packages
- Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
