Job Description
Provide direct nursing care to residents, supervise nursing activities, and maintain accurate records and charts.
Requirements
- Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts
- Encourage attending physicians to review treatment plans and record orders
- Transcribe physician’s orders to resident charts
- Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner
- Fill out and complete accident/incident reports
- Record new/changed diet orders
- Report discrepancies concerning physician’s orders, charting errors, etc.
- Fill out and complete transfer forms
- Ensure accurate documentation of unauthorized discharges
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered
- Verify resident identity before administering medication
- Ensure prescribed medication for one resident is not administered to another
- Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment
- Ensure accurate narcotic records
- Notify Nurse Supervisor of drug and narcotic discrepancies
- Review medication cards for completeness and accuracy
- Notify attending physician of automatic stop orders
- Dispose of drugs and narcotics as required
