The Poarch Creek Indians is the only federally recognized tribe in Alabama, operating as a sovereign nation with its own government. The tribe manages various economic enterprises such as Wind Creek Hospitality and Creek Indian Enterprises Authority, employing thousands of local residents. As an active partner in the state, the Poarch Band of Creek Indians contributes to economic, educational, social, and cultural projects that benefit both tribal members and neighboring communities.
