The Montreal Gazette is looking for a talented and dedicated News Photographer to join our dynamic team. As a News Photographer, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality images that tell compelling stories and provide visual context to news articles.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a news photographer or similar role
• Strong portfolio showcasing journalistic photography
• Proficiency with professional photography equipment and software
• Excellent understanding of composition, lighting, and colour
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and in fast-paced environments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends
• Ability to travel to various locations on short notice
• Knowledge of current events and news trends
• Commitment to journalistic integrity and ethical standards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Physical stamina to carry and operate heavy equipment
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Bachelor's degree in photography, journalism, or related field preferred
• Experience with photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
• Ability to provide captions and context for images
• Understanding of legal guidelines related to photography and privacy
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and techniques
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Video editing skills
