Job Description
The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting light tight enclosures, verifying interlocks, shutters, barriers, and warning systems, and checking administrative controls. They must also maintain inspection records and corrective action reports, and be empowered to halt laser operations if unsafe conditions are found.
Requirements
- Laser Safety Officer; a formally designated inspector under ANSI Z136.1 standards
- Technical or scientific background (physics, optics, engineering, or occupational safety)
- Formal training in laser safety principles, hazard evaluation, and control measures
- Completion of ANSI Z136.1 laser safety training
- Familiarity with OSHA requirements and institutional policies
- Documented competency in evaluating Class 4 laser hazards
