Staff Attorney - Consumer Rights & Economic Justice

Public Counsel is seeking a Staff Attorney to join its Consumer Rights & Economic Justice team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of legal experience and a passion for utilizing Artificial Intelligence to enhance access to justice. The attorney will manage the provision of appellate self-help services, supervise volunteers, and engage in appellate advocacy on Public Counsel cases.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of legal experience
• Juris Doctor degree and a member in good standing of the California State Bar
• Experience managing the delivery of legal services to self-represented litigants
• Extensive experience in, and passion for, utilizing Artificial Intelligence
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent legal research and writing skills
• Ability to work both independently and in teams
• Experience in and knowledge of appellate procedure and practice strongly preferred
• Certified Appellate Specialists preferred
• Demonstrated interest in public interest work preferred
• Experience supervising volunteers preferred
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in Spanish preferred
• Commitment to economic and racial justice, including participating in and advancing equity and inclusion work at Public Counsel
