The Tack Truck Driver is responsible for operating a tack distributor truck to apply asphalt emulsion prior to paving operations. This role requires a strong focus on safety, equipment operation, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, field environment.
Requirements
- Operate tack truck safely and efficiently in support of paving operations
- Apply tack coat at required rates in designated areas prior to paving
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Load and manage asphalt emulsion and heating oil as needed
- Monitor temperature and ensure materials are maintained within recommended ranges
- Ensure proper setup and operation of spray system, including calibration and adjustments
- Follow direction from superintendent/foreman regarding application rates and work areas
- Maintain cleanliness of tanks, spray bars, and equipment
- Work closely with paving crews to ensure proper timing and coordination
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE and safe operation around crews and equipment
- Assist with general labor duties as needed on the crew
- Manage and communicate with paving superintendent tack material on hand and ensure truck is always full and prepared for the upcoming needs
- Circulate and maintain material in tankers that are staged onsite to ensure material is usable
