Project Estimator plays a key role in preparing complete EPC proposals for high-voltage electrical, renewables, and utility projects, evaluating RFP packages, and developing detailed cost estimates and supporting documentation.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably within the electric utility or EPC sectors
- Experience with renewable, distribution, and substation projects
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and labor productivity
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Hard Dollar (or equivalent)
- Proficiency in digital take-off tools such as Bluebeam
- Ability to develop project schedules using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with document management software such as SharePoint
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, procurement, construction, and project management functions
- Proven ability to coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Able to clearly articulate estimate assumptions, risk considerations, and commercial impacts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working independently while also functioning as part of a larger team
