The Communications Manager - External Affairs and Media role involves engaging with the media to connect RMIT with industry, government, and community audiences. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and amplify stories that bring the University's strategic priorities to life.
Requirements
- Experience in a highly effective external communications function, working with media and managing risk and reputational issues.
- Strong knowledge of the news cycle and excellent news sense.
- Experience in communications planning, delivery, and measurement that contributed to strategic organisational objectives.
- Experience building and maintaining strong working relationships with key media representatives across all platforms.
- Experience using data to guide stakeholders and identifying emerging and unmet needs and to develop solutions to meet those needs.
- The ability to advise leadership on managing public issues and directly undertake media/issues management.
- The ability to coach managers and senior leaders and enable them to lead dialogue with their respective stakeholders.
