The Estimator I is responsible for preparing work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Requirements
- Resolve all pricing options and target the appropriate price for the project.
- Identify areas for training with estimators and interns.
- Gather information from local government and private entities that may affect project (i.e., permits, hearings, etc.).
- Complete quantity takeoffs and summations of materials.
- Solicit trade partners, obtain bid estimates, and time projections for preparing vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets.
- Provide assistance to data input into estimating software program(s).
- Build Project Estimates.
- Prepare, organize, and coordinate Request for Proposal documents.
- Participate in plan and estimate review meetings, other project review meetings, and site investigations, as needed.
- Solicit new bidders when needed and obtain necessary documents for inclusion in future projects.
- Capture historical cost data and perform archive filing.
- Assists in providing details for order entry, drafting, production and layout of orders received.
- Corresponds and contacts sales reps to obtain missing info, recommends change or substitution to improve cost, delivery, or product.
- Interprets customer requirements and prepares and revises quotations based upon takeoffs, emails, and specifications.
- Interacts with sales reps and internal personnel to provide accurate bidding.
- Works from emails, takeoffs, drawings, bid forms, verbal and written requests to prepare quotes.
- Reports directly to the department supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Provides technical product support to designers and customers as related to the quotes.
