Job Description
Under the direction of the Coding Manager, the Coding Supervisor provides first-line supervision to physician coding staff, interacting with care providers, managers, and support staff. The position requires depth of knowledge in coding systems software and reimbursement methodologies.
Requirements
- Interview, hire, discipline, and supervise coding staff
- Monitor coding quality and productivity performance
- Audit/code when needed
- Assist in development and implementation of coding policies and procedures
- Provide education to providers/practices
- Template updates
- Work with Compliance teams on trends
- Conduct annual performance reviews of coding team
- Coordinate use of contract staff when necessary
- Identify coding trends and provide education to coding staff
- Review unbilled accounts and communicate to providers for missing documentation
- Work with facility side coding supervisors and management
- Provide feedback on monthly coder accuracy/productivity
- Participate in special projects
