Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Samsara is seeking a motivated Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their Safety In-Vehicle Experience team. This role focuses on developing and deploying ML models to improve driver safety, engagement, and trust within Samsara’s in-vehicle camera systems. The engineer will bridge the gap between research and production, partner with teams to translate insights into production-ready models, and drive continuous improvement of the edge ML toolchain. They will also participate in customer collaboration and be a team player with a growth mindset.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing and deploying deep learning models for edge, embedded, or real-time systems.
• Strong background in computer vision or multimodal ML (e.g., 2D/3D CNNs, Transformers).
• Proficiency in Python and C++, with hands-on experience optimizing inference runtimes.
• Deep understanding of performance tuning, including compiler- or DSP-level optimizations.
• Familiarity with middleware or streaming frameworks used in real-time perception pipelines.
