The State Bar of California's mission is to protect the public and includes the primary functions of licensing, regulation, and discipline of attorneys; the advancement of the ethical and competent practice of law; and support of efforts for greater access to, and inclusion in, the legal system.
The Office of General Counsel (OGC) is in-house counsel to the State Bar, providing a full range of services, including representation of the State Bar in all state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. Attorneys in OGC are also expected to work on requests for “second-look” of disciplinary complaints that have been closed by Office of Chief Trial Counsel.
