Senior Accountant, U.S. Financial Reporting

Join Scotiabank's Global Banking and Markets team as a Senior Accountant, U.S. Financial Reporting. Assist in completing the monthly and quarterly accounting close process, perform bank and control reconciliations, and prepare financial statements. Develop and enhance internal work papers to make processes more efficient. Collaborate with the team to administer the balance sheet attestation and substantiation process, and work with enterprise Finance to ensure intercompany balances are properly reconciled.

Requirements

• Accounting, Finance or relevant business degree
• Knowledge in Accounting/Finance principles
• Basic understanding of banking business, capital markets financial products and transaction mechanics
• Skilled at intercompany reporting and controls
• Strong analytical skills and an internal control mindset
• A sense of organization and priorities
• Prior experience in Financial Reporting at a broker-dealer or banking organization is a plus
• Experience with Peoplesoft GL a plus
