The Port Engineer is accountable for the maintenance and repair of vessels, implementing cost-efficient maintenance and repairs to keep vessels in a serviceable condition. This role also involves technical consultations, coordination of planned maintenance, and leadership in maintaining a complete maintenance and repair record for each vessel.
Requirements
- Diploma in Marine Engineering or an apprenticeship program
- 2nd level Engineer certificate with minimum 10 years of experience as a shipboard or shore-based engineer, or 3rd level Engineer certificate with minimum 5 years of experience
- Knowledge of Transport Canada and Classification Societies requirements
- Understanding of Seaspan union labour agreements
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and make sound engineering decisions
